No Initiation Fee is charged for Junior (17 & under) Memberships. Members who renew their membership will not be charged an Initiation Fee when they renew.  A background check ($20) is required of all applicants over the age of 17. This fee is waived if the applicant provides a copy of their Georgia Weapons License.

I want to join. Do I need to be sponsored by a member?

No!  Membership at MRGC is NOT based on who you know, how you look or what you shoot.   Just submit your application and applicable fees and the process begins there.

How does the membership process work?

The membership application process is primarily designed to help keep our range safe and to ensure members receive key information about the club's safety rules, range use rules, history and policies.  Here's how the process works:

1.  Download and complete an application (see "membership application" tab).

2.  Mail the fully completed application with fees and a photocopy of a current government-issued photo ID to the club office at 141 New Street in Macon (see map).  You may also hand carry the application and payment to the office between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  The club will review the application and request a criminal background check (if no GWL is presented) on the applicant (juniors exempt).  When the results of the background check come back, the club will notify the applicant and either 3a or 3b below will occur.

   NOTE
There is a 4 hour annual work requirement for those who are physically able. If you don't have time, you can buy the time for $50 which will help us buy materials for work days. We understand life is busy and we don't hold anything against those who buy out their time, it helps us purchase materials for work days or hire contractors for special projects that require skills beyond those we have at hand.

The club neither requests nor receives detailed background criminal information. The club only receives notice of "positive" or "negative" findings.  If the findings are positive, we are only informed of the nature of the incident(s), not specific details concerning the reported positive findings.

3a.  If the background check comes back "negative", the applicant is asked to an attend an orientation session at the range and have an ID card photo taken at the same time.  Check the calendar for orientation/photo session dates and times.

3b.  If the background check comes back "positive", the applicant is informed and the application denied at that time. Any application fees paid will be refunded less $20 to cover the cost of the background check.  In such cases, the applicant may want to verify results with law enforcement authorities if he/she believes a discrepancy exists.  A new application may be submitted once the discrepancy is resolved.  The club plays no role in the discrepancy resolution process.

Do you offer membership discounts?

No. As of 2019 all Adult and Senior members will be required to pay the same annual dues.

Junior applicants (ages 7-17) dues are only $20 per year.  We encourage young shooters and sponsor a local high school's pistol team.

How long does a membership last?

Memberships run from 1 January to 31 December each year, regardless of when the membership was initiated.  For example, if you join on April 12th, your membership expires on 31 December.  However, memberships can be pro-rated for the remainder of the year, but per our by-laws, you would also have to pay the following year in full as well.  Prorated memberships expire on 31 December of the following year.

How much does it cost per visit?

Our club does not charge on a per visit basis.  Once your membership fees are paid, you could visit the range all day, every day, from sun up to sun down.  No activity is allowed on the range during hours of darkness.

Can I just buy a junior membership for my child?

No.  Since junior members (7 to 17) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times, the parent or guardian would need a membership.

My child is less than 7 years old. Can he or she visit the range with me?

No.  No one under age 7 is allowed on the range at any time.

What shooting facilities are available at the range?

Our range complex has five separate areas:

200 yard covered rifle range with 3 seated benches and ground space.

100 yard covered rifle range with 10 seated benches and ground space.

50 yard covered black powder / shotgun / general purpose range with tables and benches.

We have finished construction of two new, large pistol bays with racks and tables for equipment.

7 - 15 - 25 - 50 -75 yard target lines for the covered pistol range with benches (stationary and mobile seating benches are available)

Members must use the range that is designated for the firearm being used.  Do not use pistols on the rifle ranges or rifles or rifle caliber "pistols" on the pistol ranges.  We do not allow shooting steel targets on the pistol range with rifle caliber ammunition.  The only exception is that long range target or hunting pistols may be used on the 100 yard rifle range.   Also, any firearm may be used on the general purpose range.

How do I gain access to the range?

Members are provided a gate combination and will be notified prior to combination changes.

Are there any restrictions on the types of firearms allowed on the range?

No.  Any safe firearm may be used.  However, tracer, armor piercing, incendiary, or exploding ammunition is NOT allowed.  Full-auto firing is not allowed on the 200 yard range.

Does the club hold organized matches?

Yes.  Several matches occur each month.  Most matches have a start time of 10 a.m. on Saturday mornings during the Winter months and 9:00 a.m. during the Summer months (check club calendar).  We offer Vintage Service Rifle, Centerfire and Rimfire Rifle, Steel Challenge, Bowling Pin and 3-Gun matches.

If you want to the club to offer other kinds of matches, please send an email to president@marionroad.com.

Are club matches open to non-members?

Yes!

Members, visitors or guests shooting in matches which utilize paper targets pay $5.00 per day regardless of the number of matches in which they participate.  Any action/speed steel or three gun matches cost $15 for members of MRGC, $20 for guests.

Note on guests not shooting in matches: Guests must display a dated guest badge (badges are provided by members).  Guests may participate in any range activity as long as they are accompanied by the sponsoring member.

A visitor is a person who is not a member and is not a member's guest.  Visitors may only participate in club-sponsored matches.  Visitors are not allowed to use the range after the match is over.  Visitors may participate in all matches as long as the match appropriate fee is paid.

Note:  Members may bring up to 2 guests per visit.  Guests may only attend the range twice as guests in any calendar year.  Guests who want to continue to access the range beyond 2 visits will be required to join the club. Guests and visitors will sign a Liability Waiver prior to participating in a match.

Please email any questions to president@marionroad.com

When will the next orientation session be held?

Check the club's calendar for future orientation sessions.  They are normally held at the range on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m.  Check back often as sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled.
